$250 MINI-GRANTS AVAILABLE

SpankOut Day USA "Raising Good Kids Without Hitting"
April 30, 2007

Up to twenty grants of $250 will be awarded to non-profit organizations, schools, and churches for educational events and programs which provide information about the effects of physical punishment of children and alternatives to its use. Preference will be given to programs and events for populations which studies indicate would benefit most from knowledge about effects of physical punishment and alternatives: teens or young adults, grandparents raising children alone, adults with a high school education, adult men, mothers raising children alone, teens with backgrounds of abuse and adults with backgrounds of abuse. Programs must reach 20-30 persons.

The one-page mini-grant application (below) on this site and is downloadable. Completed forms should be sent to the Center for Effective Discipline, 155 W. Main Street #1603, Columbus, OH 43215 or faxed to (614)221-2110.

Proposed programs/events must be held the last week in April (April 22 to 30) 2007 to coincide with National Child Abuse Prevention Month and SpankOut Day USA April 30th.

Funds should be used for programs/events which provide an addition to the organization's regular programs and are not part of the regular programs.

Non-profit organizations should provide an Internal Revenue exemption letter with the grant application.

Grant requests must be received by December 10, 2006.

Grant recipients will be announced on or before January 10, 2007. Recipients of grants will receive notification by regular mail.

Funds for approved grants will be sent to recipients when signed agreements are received.

A brief evaluation form enclosed with the grant funds must be returned by May 15, 2007.
